Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain, with the presence of muscular trigger points and which isusually accompanied by feelings of fatigue, drowsiness, mood and memory changes. There is no specific cause for fibromyalgia, although there is evidence to support its genetic component. This condition presents worse phases after stressful events, namely physical stress due to an accident; medical stress resulting from infections or other diseases; as well as psychological stress caused by a traumatic event. Its diagnosis and treatment is performed specifically by doctors specialized in rheumatology. Treatment may involve taking prescribed medications as well as lifestyle-specific changes that promote daily stress reduction and increase physical function, including low-impact sports activities.
