Gingivitis

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums, characterized by redness, swelling and spontaneous gingival hemorrhage or during brushing. This untreated condition can progress to periodontitis and lead to destruction of the tooth support and eventual tooth loss in the long run. The most common cause of gingivitis is inadequate oral hygiene. Good oral hygiene habits at home (brushing twice a day, flossing) and regular check-ups are essential for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis.
