Luxation is a jaw hypermobility disorder. When opening the mouth, the condyle-disk complex gets ahead of the articular eminence and is unable to return to its normal position. The affected person is stuck with his or her mouth locked in a wide-open position and is unable to reposition it without medical assistance.
